My Life and Sports

Sports have been part of my life for a long time. I enjoy sports very much, and they are one of my hobbies. Watching sports and doing sports are so fun for me. I know that it may be unexpected to many people that someone who is disabled can be interested in sports. I know this because I have gotten many shocked expressions from lots of people that I have told in the past.

My favorite sports are ice hockey, baseball and American football. These sports are very entertaining to watch. Ice hockey is my number one favorite sport, baseball is my second favorite sport, and American football is my third favorite sport. These sports are very different from each other, and they all make me happy and excited.

Not only do I like watching sports, but I also like doing sports. I haven’t gotten to do sports in awhile, but I want to start back up soon. When I was younger, I was a sled hockey player, a disabled snow skier and a disabled water skier. Sled hockey is the disabled version of ice hockey, and it is so fun to play. Disabled snow skiing and disabled water skiing are also very fun to do, and they have been part of my life for a long time. I have been part of a local organization that puts on snow skiing and water skiing for people with disabilities, and the organization has really helped me become who I am!

Although I have not been involved with sports for awhile, I have been starting to get back into sports lately. I have been starting to work out at a gym, and I can’t wait to get stronger and healthier the more I do it! I want to start doing the sports I love again soon and maybe even new sports; that’s why I have started working out. I have started to enjoy working out a lot and want to start making changes in my life!

A picture of one of my recent trips snow skiing. I am in the sit ski, and one of the volunteers from the organization I go with is behind me! I haven’t been snow skiing in more than six years, but I want to get back to it next year! I love snow skiing so much! (Photo by one of the volunteers)
